I am fairly new to adult coloring books but I have now acquired several. I really like this one because of the variety of the images. I can find something for whatever mood i am in and that is appropriate for whatever medium i want to color in, pencils , gel pens or markers. I have used Crayola , Artist's Loft (Michael's store brand) and CraZart color pencils, Bic Mark-it, Sharpie, Stabilio 88, and Staedtler Triplus markers, and a wide variety of gel pens including Jelly Roll, Target's Up brand, staples store brand and many others I'm not ever sure of the brand anymore. I ave attache some pages that I have completed and there is at least one from each section and done in each type of media that I have.

I usually color sitting on the couch with the book cover folded back and end up turning it in all directions depending on the image. Because the cover is nice and stiff, my coloring surface is pretty stable. The middle of the book is harder to bend the cover back but I still manage OK. It would be much easier if it had a spiral binding. The paper is reasonably thick compared to a few other books I have. For the most part I have seen little bleed through even from the Bics and Sharpies, but to be safe I keep a sheet of scrap paper between the coloring page and the next one. I have seen some complaints about the quality of the image reproduction and i have seen what they are talking about, but so far it hasn't been an issue with my ability to color the image

I like that the variety of images gives me some simple and easy to quickly finish for instant gratification and others that are more complex and take me several sessions to complete.

I have started using Adult Coloring Books as a way to de-stress. I know that many crafts use the same part of the brain that one uses in meditation, so I wasn't surprised to read that many other adults were turning to coloring. I have bought several different types of books and I find that I like a lot of the ones by Creative Haven/Dover. I have found that my non-alcohol based markers and my gel pens all leak through this brand of book, so I am sure to place paper between the pages to keep the pages behind fresh and clean. I've found that freezer paper works really well for this purpose.

The pages of the book are single-sided and are perforated at the bound edge so you can remove the page to color or to frame afterwards. The pages are a bright white and have a decent pound weight - they are not flimsy.

This is the second Creative Haven book by Marjorie Sarnat (her first has been one of my favorite - Cats.) This book of Owls is now tied for for my top honors. There are 31 images to color (if you don't include the small faceplate on the title page.) The images have a wide range, including: an owl sitting on a wildly decorated crescent moon, an owl with butterflies, a "smart" owl amongst his/her books, owls on a wooden rocking horse, pirate owls, fairy tale owl, totem pole owls, steampunk owl, the owl and the pussycat (yes, cat included!) and many, many more.

Marjorie Sarnat has created another stunning and imaginative coloring book. Very detailed images. What can I say, I love owls and coloring! A marriage made in Creative Haven!
As in another, more detailed review (see Magnificent Mehndi Designs from Creative Haven) these images were created with adults in mind; fine motor skills are a must because there are a lot of small to very small spaces to fill. What makes coloring so stress reducing for me - I have to concentrate on detail on the page and not a lot about anything else - ahh...relaxation for the mind.
I use colored pencils, the paper it is printed on is not that thick for watercolors so I don't suggest that, but each page has only one image on one side and the page is perforated so that it can be torn out and colored separately. Crayons, pens, markers and pastels could also be used to color these very detailed pictures. Remember when playing was fun? It's back!
An talented artist created these brand new images and Dover Books has struck gold with me in the modestly priced Creative Haven series.

What a wonderful book , full of stunning, imaginative, very detailed, highly decorated, animal drawings, a couple are simply detailed, a couple more than diabolically detailed, most are just right, like the Cat I colored and I am attaching. The images are centered on each page and include both just head images and full animal images. Coloring in this book takes a steady hand, challenges your creativity, and inspires you.

This is a wonderful coloring book with artistic drawings of animals that will delight any animal lover. I just received this book yesterday and have finished coloring the turtle. I used gel pens for this picture but some of the drawings will have to be colored with pencils as some of the pictures have tiny, tiny areas. I am very happy with this book and would recommend it to anyone that isn't afraid of a challenge.

PS: The grey areas on the turtle are actually silver and look much better than the picture does it justice.I also use Staedtler Triplus Fineliner gel pens. They are very fine-tipped and can reach those tiny areas. Shout-out to the publishers for sending a new copy of this book for free. That one included the lion drawing. I loved this book before now I have one more reason to love it even more.

I've given several coloring books for adults who are hospitalized and/or home bound and they've been a real hit. Quite often, visitors are invited to join in so the results include good memories as well as pretty patterns. This book in particular has especially beautiful designs and are gorgeous when colored. It's hard to choose a favorite.

The Godfather Family Album (Art Edition - A) (Multilingual Edition) Review

VERY INTERESTING BOOK
I am a huge fan of The Godfather movies particularly 1 & 2 and this book is a very good source of information about the movies. Also has a lot of pictures I had not seen before. If you are a fan of these movies this book will be very interesting to you. I like reading about things that were going on behind the scenes. Its interesting that in this picture you have so much talent and all working at different intersections of their lives and this movie launched everyone into stratrosphere from Francis Ford Coppola to Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duval, Robert de Niro, and Paramount Pictures. It really is a very interesting time. I think a lot of these actors and director did their best work in this movie. Really one of the greatest movies ever made.

Superb, lush volume on all 3 Godfather films
Arguably the greatest American film(s) of the last century, Coppola's trilogy is beautifully covered by Shapiro's still work during the shoot; and there's plenty of text to satisfy those who want to delve deeper. The volume itself is a heavy-duty one, and it exhibits TASCHEN's usual high-quality craftsmenship, albeit smaller and more practical than the original limited-edition versions. This colorful, exciting volume is well worth the price in this general-release edition, and will probably be out of print relatively quickly (as were the very-expensive, original art editions).

More than just a beautiful photo album...
THE GODFATHER FAMILY ALBUM is a must-have for Godfather fans. Weighing in at around 6.5 lbs and measuring 10"x15" the hardcover ALBUM is crammed full of 100s of photos throughout its 424 pages, covering all three films. A Vocabulary of Mohegan-pequot (American Language Reprints) Review

Helpful and interesting
This interesting dictionary was compiled almost entirely from the diaries of the last speaker of Mohegan Pequot, a Mohegan woman named Fidelia Fielding, who passed away in 1908. It's quite short -- only 42 pages of vocabulary, with approximately ten words per page. The main dictionary is followed by a single page of vocabulary from the "Brothertown Mohegans" of Wisconsin, who moved to Wisconsin in the 1800s.
For anyone who doesn't know this, let me just explicitly note right here that the Mohegans are completely different from the Mohicans. To help you keep things straight, the word "Mohegan" is basically ALWAYS spelled the same way. Any time you see a spelling like Mohican, Mochican, Mahican, or...Muhhekaneew, those words refer to a totally, absolutely, completely separate tribe, which formerly lived in western Connecticut, western Massachusetts, and also in New York. That tribe is also sometimes called the Stockbridge Indians. Confusingly enough, like the Brothertown Mohegans, the Mohicans/Mahicans/Mochicans/Muhhekaneew/Stockbridge indians now live in Wisconsin, but they are still distinct from Wisconsin's Brothertown Mohegans. Native American Heritage
I have to say that i was very pleased with this book. Growing up in Connecticut I was only marginaly aware of my heritage through my grandmother. I found that this book was not only a good dictionary of the known words but also a book of history. I feel that this book helped bring me closer to the Mohegan tribe and i was very pleased with my purchase. The only thing i could have hoped for more of was the language itself. But as was explained, much of the language was lost and they have peiced together the best that was possible. It seems that the authors put real time and effort into this book.

When I stumbled into this baby at my local Los Angeles Independent Bookstore (Skylight Books), I was immediately smitten.
If you like High Fashion (couture) and detailed craftsmanship...look no further.
Overall a beautifully put together collection of inspiring images in a gorgeous hardcover. Its well worth the price. I'm actually still too mesmerized to describe the book properly...

This book at 15 inches tall is packed full of reproductions of panoramic wildlife paintings by Walton Ford. Ford is what you might loosely call a naturalist - a painter of nature with an old fashioned sense of fidelity to the anatomical proportions and whiskered details of God's creations. Pancha Tantra is Amazing
This book is absolutely amazing! I only learned of Ford after seeing his work on the cover of naturalist book of essays and was instantly captivated. I am happy to finally have a book with so many wonderful images of his art, both full images of the paintings as well as close-ups of certain details. Ford's incredible work is wonderfully presented in this affordable edition.

The book is large, the prints are detailed and it was everything I had hoped for, as a artist I was blown away by the detail. If your not into art, it still makes a great cocktail table book, anyone would enjoy looking at.

We place adult coloring books in the waiting room of the hospital area in which I work. We've just added this one to our library and I'm a huge fan of the designs. Patients and their families can color in the books while waiting and easily rip out the pages if they want to take their artwork home with them, or they can leave it for other people to admire or add to. We've occasionally get people mentioning how much they enjoyed using the books but what really speaks for itself is how quickly they get completely used up!

This is an incredible book with fantastic flowing artwork. My favorite illustrations are the 15 delicate doily type illustrations and out of 46 illustrations I only noticed 3 that I would not want to personally color .

Bring out your imagination, arouse your senses and creativity, and as you become engaged in the pleasurable, soothing activity of Coloring, it calms you and instantaneously starts reducing your stress level.

Adult Coloring Book: Stress Relieving Patterns Book Review

This book is a wonderful addition to your coloring library; a perfect gift school aged children, college students, or adults who enjoy coloring, and a much easier way to reduce stress than going to the gym.

1. 46 illustrations printed one per page (the back of each page is blank) on bright white, medium weight paper and the page numbers are listed on the back of the page not on the front where the picture is.


2. Illustrations include 15 delicate, circular doily type drawings(my favorites) Most of the rest are bordered full page designs from simple geometric shapes with very little detail to complicated very detailed geometric shape designs. There are a few miscellaneous sprinkled through the book l did see one paisley design.


3. The complexity and details vary with the pictures, some you will need sharpened colored pencils or Gel pens for and others crayons or wide markers would work. Place a piece of scrap paper under the page you are coloring in case your pens or markers bleed through the page. My Fiskars Gel Pens did not .
